iCAT

iCAT®

What is iCAT?

Since your smile is three-dimensional, you grow in 3-D and orthodontic treatment is done in 3-D, it makes sense to use diagnostic tools which give a 3-D depiction of your facial structure, jaw and teeth. The revolutionary i-CAT® Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System or iCAT for short, makes this possible using the similar technology which has been used in medical CT scans for over 30 years with significantly less radiation exposure.

Why we use it

content_ent.jpgiCAT's technology provides a quicker full scan of the head than traditional two-dimensional imaging. The orthodontist has better visualization of the hard and soft tissues of your facial structures from several views. This dramatically improves diagnosis of your dental or jaw problem and enhances treatment efficiency.

Benefits for You

Quimby & Collins Orthodontics specialize in the use of this technology and provide their patients with the iCAT scan right in the office. This eliminates the need for an additional appointment, saving you time. The image provided by iCAT allows us to see the full mouth, jaw and gums of our patients, enabling us to create a comprehensive orthodontic plan. This results in a superior orthodontic experience.

Additionally, iCAT provides clear images of our patient's sinuses. These are helpful in identifying potential sinus or allergy issues. We work collaboratively with your pediatrician or ear, nose and throat specialist, and will provide a copy of the iCAT image to them so they may better address any potential health implications.
